All India Law Entrance Test, commonly known as AILET, is a national-level law entrance exam conducted by National Law University, Delhi (NLU, Delhi). AILET exam is conducted once every year for admission to the integrated BA LLB, LLM, and PhD programmes.
Candidates should note that NLU Delhi is the only National Law University that does not accept the score of CLAT 2023 for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. All the other remaining 22 NLUs will accept CLAT scores.

AILET PG 2023 Reserved Seats
There are a total of 81 seats available for the LLM program at the National Law University, Delhi. However, there are reservations across categories which are noted in the table below:

AILET PG 2023 Reservation Criteria
In order to avail the benefit of the reservation seats, candidates will need to submit the documents attesting to the fact that they are eligible to avail the benefits of the reservation. The documents required for each category are noted below:

As proof of a candidate’s claim to the seat, certificates provided by the following authority stand valid: District Magistrate/Additional District Magistrate/Collector/ Deputy Commissioner/Additional Deputy Commissioner/1st Class Stipendiary Magistrate/Sub-Divisional Magistrate/Taluka Magistrate/Executive Magistrate/Extra Assistant Commissioner. Other Backward Classes-Non-Creamy Layer | Only those candidates can apply who have the certificate issued by the competent authority under the General list of OBCs or under the Delhi State List of OBCs (Notified by the Govt. of NCT of Delhi). Kashmiri Migrants | Candidates belonging to the Kashmir valley, are Kashmiri Pandits/Kashmir Hindu families (non-migrants) can avail of the reserved seat only after producing a valid certificate provided by the competent authority at the time of provisional admission. Since the seat of the Kashmiri migrant is supernumerary, in case the seat remains empty, it won’t be converted to any other category in case it remains unfilled. |
Additional Instructions Regarding AILET PG 2023 Reservation
- The conversion of seats reserved for SC, ST, OBC, EWS etc. to the General category will be done only under one condition if no eligible candidate is available in the merit list of the concerned reserved category. However, while converting the seats, any unfilled seat(s) reserved for ST Category will be offered to SC Category first and vice versa and only after that if seats remain unfilled, the reserved category seats will be converted to the General Category.
- In case, the seat reserved for PwD remains vacant due to the non-availability of eligible PwD candidates(s) under the respective category, the same shall be offered to the candidates of the respective category from which horizontal reservation has been provided.
- Additionally, a Horizontal reservation of 30% of the total seats shall be filled by eligible women candidates including those selected in Reserved and Foreign National categories.
- The unfilled seats under Foreign National Category will be converted to General Category and filled on the basis of merit.
- The same procedure will be followed in the case of the wait-listed candidates.
FAQs
As per the eligibility criteria of the AILET PG Exam 2023, candidates who have completed their graduation in law from UGC-accredited Institution are eligible to apply for the LLM course.
The AILET PG Examination 2023 will comprise two sections, section A will have multiple choice questions (MCQs) and section B will have descriptive questions.
The total number of seats is 81, of which 70 seats on merit are filled through the All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) and 10 seats are for direct admission to Foreign Nationals on merit (5 seats for Foreign Nationals & 5 seats for OCI/PIO).
