All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) exam is conducted by National Law University Delhi (NLU) for admissions into Undergraduate (UG), Postgraduate (PG) and Doctorate (PhD) law courses at NLU, Delhi. AILET is a national-level examination conducted annually.

AILET PG Selection Process

Candidates seeking admission to NLU Delhi in their PG programme will have to go undergo the selection process of the university. The selection for the PG programme will be based on the AILET examination. The selection process is detailed below:

  • As stated above, admission of candidates to LLM/PG programmes offered by NLU Delhi will be based on the rank obtained in AILET 2023.
  • The candidates who make the merit list will need to attend the counselling session. Candidates should note that this process will be conducted offline. 
  • During this process, candidates must bring the relevant documents as asked by the conducting body.
  • The admission officials will conduct a document verification as a part of the selection process of AILET 2023 where the information provided by the candidates in their application form will be cross-checked with the original documents provided.
  • Any candidate whose details in the form fail to correspond with the original documents will not be considered any further.
  • Candidates who will be allotted a seat will be required to deposit the fees assigned date to confirm their admission. Admission of candidates who fail to do so will be cancelled.
  • The authorities will release a seat allotment list of the candidates who have been granted admission in the first round of the AILET selection process.
  • There will also be a separate list of candidates who are on the waiting list.
  • If seats remain vacant, the authorities will release another merit list of qualified candidates who will be eligible to attend the spot counselling of the AILET PG.
  • The spot counselling will be the last round of admission in the AILET selection process.

Merit List

To commence their studies at NLU Delhi, candidates will first be required to make it to the merit list released by the college. The steps for downloading the merit list are illustrated below:

Step 1- Visit the official website of National Law University

Step 2- Select the course from the 3 options, namely, BA LLB, LLM or PhD

Step 3 – Click on the merit list of the selected programme

Step 5- Then the merit list will appear on the screen

Step 6- Candidates can check their names and rank in the PDF

Documents required for AILET Counselling

The candidates who have made it to the merit list and have been shortlisted for counselling will need to carry some documents with them to complete the counselling process. The required documents are as follows:

  • AILET 2023 counselling letter received from the conducting body
  • A copy of the AILET admit card
  • Self-attested copies of Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheets and certificates 
  • Character certificate for the candidate issued by last attended school or college.
  • Category certificate (if applicable)

How many seats are there in AILET LLM?

The total number of seats for AILET PG is 80 [70 Seats on merit through the All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) and 10 Seats for direct admission to Foreign Nationals on merit.]

What is the fee structure for AILET PG?

The fee structure for AILET PG Hostlers is a total of INR 2,04,00 and for Non-Hostler the fee structure is INR 1,39,000.

What is the eligibility criteria for AILET PG examination?

 Candidates who have completed their  LLB or an equivalent law degree with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks (45% in the case of SC/ST/persons with disabilities) can take the exam. Applicants appearing for their final year/semester of LLB are also eligible to apply for AILET 2023 PG. However, they will be eligible for admission to the LLM programme only after completing their graduation with minimum qualifying marks.
