NCB full form is Narcotics Control Bureau. Acting under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, this Indian central law enforcement and intelligence nodal agency are authorised to deal with drug trafficking, including the use of illegal substances. This task is operated under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. The headquarters of NCB can be found in New Delhi, the capital of India. The agency recognises its role in combating drug trafficking and regularly organizes events such as The International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking; informative sessions, and international meetings to monitor problems; including drives for the arrest of absconders, etc.

Responsibilities and Operations of NCB 

There are a number of responsibilities that the NCB must operate in, which are mentioned below. 

  1. NCB is responsible for the organisation and coordination of several state and federal drug enforcement organisations and their operations. 
  2. NCB extends its aid in sorting out and implementing states’ efforts of enforcing drug laws. 
  3. NCB is further responsible for gathering and subsequent transmission of intelligence inputs. 
  4. Additionally, NCB is required to maintain relationships with INTERPOL, UNDCP, and INCB, which are international organisations.
