Standing financial committees are divided into six parts on the basis of the functions performed by them. Additionally, one of them is the Financial Committee, which is again divided into three parts: Public Accounts Committee, Estimates Committee, and Committee on Public Undertakings. Moreover, it was first set up in 1921. After the independence of India, the first Estimates Committee was established on the recommendation of the erstwhile Finance Minister, John Mathai in 1950. Furthermore, at the time of its initiation, the total number of members was kept at 25, later on, it changed to 30 members. Furthermore, the members of the Lok Sabha are chosen to be members of this Committee and no Rajya Sabha members have any representation here.
