Early Life and Education

Namrata Purohit was born on 24 August 1993 in an Indian family in Mumbai, India. She spent her early life as a Mumbaikar. Since childhood, she was a girl driven by dreams and passion who enjoyed every aspect of life. Her father, Samir Purohit, is one of her heroes, along with whom she established the famous and people’s favourite Pilot Studio in Mumbai.

She completed her Major in economics from the reputed Jai Hind College, followed by a Master’s of Science in Sports Management from Loughborough University.

Her love for sports made her a skillful national-level squash player. In addition to this, she was also a state-level football player. At the age of 16, misfortune happened; she fell off a horse that forced her to undergo a painful surgery that smashed her sports career.

The horse incident and surgery made Namrata undergo severe pain and shattered her hope of a career in sports into pieces. Her father stood by her side as a strong pillar of support and advised her to start practicing Pilates. She went to Lindsay G. Merrithew, completed her Pilates course, and stood up as the world’s youngest certified Stott Pilates instructor. Eventually, with her father’s support and guidance, she founded the ‘Pilates Studio,’ which is the first one to offer Pilates and simulated altitude training rooms at the same place.

At the age of 21, when people are busy enjoying and figuring out their life, Namrata published her first book named, ‘The Lazy Girl’s Guide to Being Fit.’ Penguin Random House, one of the respected publications, published the book. Namrata has trained many prominent personalities like Varun Dhawan, Aditya Roy Kapoor, Eli Evram, Jacqueline Fernandez, Kangana Ranaut, Malaika Arora, and a lot more on the list.

She served as an official fitness partner in Femina Miss India Organization in 2011, followed by being an official fitness partner for Miss Diva in the year 2013-14.

In 2014, an all-rounder Namrata and her father, Samir Purohit, served as an official coach for the Mumbai City FC team.

Feel Deeply

Racing thoughts, difficulty breathing, body warming, and hand shivering sounds familiar, right? All these are signs of anxiety. In Namrata’s words, one should observe what happens to his/her body when they get anxious and try to tune with these signs, which is the first towards calming yourself.

Breathe Deeply

She says that when you get anxious, pause for a minute and breathe deeply. Ignore the screaming people, barking dogs, and negative thoughts, and only for a minute focus on you and your breath. Keep doing the same until your symptoms are calmed.

Comfort Yourself

Haven’t we all comforted a friend who is surrounded with problems around? Yes, we have, so she believes that we should do the same with ourselves. Comforting can be having a cup of tea, listening to music, hanging out, or just sitting still for some time. This will calm you and provide energy to your body to fight with negatives which will immediately snap away from the anxiety.
