ITMO University has received a special award for its volunteer center becoming the best volunteering hub in an institution of higher education.

According to Alena Tarasova, director at ITMO University’s Student Initiatives Support Department, the announcement of their team’s triumph was a great New Year’s gift to all the participants. She said that it was a long-awaited victory for the center and that they’ve been working here for a very long time and dedicated the last years for improving their center. She also said that they greatly value this success.

Although the contest was quite recent (it was conducted for the very first time this year), it accepted 353 submissions from 179 institutions. Its aim would be to define best practises for the organisation of volunteer programs in institutions for their eventual implementation at different educational institutions throughout Russia.

The victory can be credited to the ITMO volunteer center, says the staff currently working in the ITMO’s volunteer clubs. The students are active while the team of the club began by initiating a new waste sorting system for the competition which led to their win. Stay tuned to Leverage Edu for more such informational updates and news from around the world!
