History, Affiliations and Rankings

Situated in Ontario, Canada,  St. Lawrence College was founded nearly half a century ago with a view towards providing Applied Arts and Technology education to the close-knit community around Eastern Ontario. Some vocational schools existed in Ontario prior to the establishment of the college system in 1967. Many of these institutions were founded in the postwar years to aid veterans in their reintegration into civilian life. To help young people, tech wings were installed in Ontario high schools by the late 1950s. Premier William Davis, known as the "Father of the Ontario College System," responded to the growing need for technical education by establishing schools of applied arts and technology to prepare people for careers a decade later. The college is also affiliated with the CCAA (California Collegiate Athletic Association), ACCC (Academic Computing and Communications Centre), AUCC (Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada), and CBIE (Canadian Bureau of International Education). Today, the College continues to grow to suit the requirements of students seeking skills that will lead to a higher quality of life after more than 50 years of existence. St. Lawrence College still combines all the benefits of world-class quality education with the advantages of small-town life and personal attention to detail, with contemporary, spacious facilities in three lively eastern Ontario locations and an established track record of excellence.
