The New York Film Academy (NYFA) was created in 1992 by Jerry Sherlock, a former film, television, and theatre producer. It soon rose to prominence as one of the country's top film schools. It was originally located at the Tribeca Film Center and then shifted to 17 Battery Place.  It was founded on the principle of learning by doing. New York Film Academy is connected with and has been honored by a number of notable organizations as a worldwide institution for the study and practice of the performing and visual arts like the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC) has institutionally recognized the New York Film Academy and it is listed for accreditation status on the Council for Higher Education Authority's database (CHEA). The Australian Skills Quality Authority has approved and recognized the school (ASQA). According to stateuniversity.com, #4 among the Most Popular Schools for Playwriting and Screenwriting majors and degree programs and in the year 2022, the Best Colleges for Film and Photography in America ranked #44

Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses

The New York Film Academy is really a worldwide film school, with campuses across the world where students may study filmmaking, acting, and more. Each site provides a range of workshops led by experienced experts, all of which are geared to provide students with the finest hands-on experience possible. NYFA has 10 places (to give experience learning to new performing art aspirants, including five permanent campuses and several travel programs across the world. The school includes the necessary infrastructure to educate students in acting and other technical parts of filmmaking, including dubbing facilities, performance areas, and makeup rooms. It is a member of the New England Association of College Admissions Counselors (NEACAC) and has been recognized for excellence in film education by The Hollywood Reporter and Variety.
