Established in 1967 and located in North Bay, Ontario, Canadore College was initially known as Canadore College of Applied Arts and Technology. It was a part of Sudbury’s Cambrian College and later, became an independent institution in 1972. One of Canada’s leading Colleges that consistently ranks above the provincial average for the overall quality of learning experience, at Canadore College, students break the boundaries of the classroom, to engage in what is called “Experiential Learning.” Through Internships, entrepreneurial activities, Capstone projects, social enterprise and leadership activities, the students at Canadore are introduced to the professional world, before they even graduate. Canadore College is academically affiliated with Colleges and Institutes Canada (ACCC), Universities Canada (AUCC), the Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE) and the Canadian University Press (CUP). 

Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses

Canadore College is spread across a stunning 650-acre wooded escarpment, in the scenic city of North Bay. Across three closely connected campus locations, namely the Aviation Campus, Commerce Court Campus and the College Drive Campus, Canadore College offers a world-class modern infrastructure that strikes the right balance of scenic landscape and technology-advanced facilities. The College has a newly constructed West Parry Sound campus, along with Stanford campuses across multiple locations in Ontario and Toronto. The Stanford Mississauga campus offers several programs like Ontario College Diploma, Ontario College Advanced Diploma and Local Certificate under 4 Faculties: Trades & Technology, Health, Human Care & Wellness, Business & Management and Language, Access & Preparatory Studies. Students can choose to pursue academic qualifications from a total of 15 Schools that offer a range of programs, including degree programs, apprenticeships, corporate training, dual-credit programs, diplomas or certificate courses. 

Accomplishments and Alumni 

Canadore College has a significant number of achievements attributed to its name, despite the short span of its history. Recently, the College received a funding investment of $2.4 million from the Ontario government to improvise a modern, safe learning environment  for the students, with instructional equipment that meets industry standards. Further, a Culinary Management student at Canadore won international recognition at the IIHM International Young Chef Olympiad. The student, Mya Hilts, brought home two awards - the Best Mentor for Chef Fintan Flynn, and the Best Knife Skills prize by competing with candidates from 40+ countries. In January, 2022, the Biotechnology Department at Canadore College was accoladed with the Minister of Colleges and Universities’ Award of Excellence – Everyday Heroes, for its contribution to the ongoing pandemic. Canadore College has an alumni network of 40,000+ graduates, that include notable names such as, Susan Hay (Anchor/Producer), Bryce Hallett (Canadian Animator), Sara Mayhew (Writer, Illustrator and Graphic Artist), Lorraine Rekmans (Politician, Member of the Serpent River First Nation), Derek Elliot (Politician) and Jimmy W Troung (Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry Researcher). 

Student Diversity and Visiting Companies

Canadore College is a diverse, multicultural and multi-ethnic campus. There are 750+ international student enrollments at Canadore and more than 1000 indigenous students come to study at the campus annually, making approximately 25% of the total student population. For strengthening diversity and creating an inclusive community on the campus, Canadore College has a unique Elder on Campus club. This organization hosts a number of workshops, sharing circles and social events to offer cultural support and resources to all the students. The College also invests significantly in assisting students to accomplish their personal and professional goals.
