List of University of British Columbia Scholarships for International Students

Many scholarships are offered to international students at the Vancouver and Okanagan campuses. Scholarships are generally awarded on the basis of merit. There are four categories under which international students receive scholarships. They are need-and-merit-based awards available through UBC’s International Scholars Program.

Undergraduate Scholarships for International Students

Here is the list of Scholarships offered at the University of British Columbia for UG students:

NOTE: Candidates applying for International Scholar Programs cannot apply for merit-based scholarships including the International Major Entrance Scholarship (IMES), and the Outstanding International Students Award and vice-versa.

Graduate Scholarships for International Students

UBC offers 328 graduate courses (master’s and doctoral) in various fields and subjects. Mentioned below is the list of graduate scholarships, eligibility and awards offered by the University of British Columbia to International students:

Eligibility Criteria

International candidates must satisfy the following basic eligibility criteria to get the scholarship at the UBC:

• For merit-based scholarships, the candidate must be a new applicant and should be an international student willing to study in Canada on a Canadian study permit.
• Students must possess good academic performance reports, be involved in extracurricular activities and should be involved in community services.
• For need-and-merit-based scholarships, the student must be an international student with a Canadian study permit.
• Must possess a minimum of 75-80% marks in high school.
• Applicant must have a valid passport.
• Candidate must provide English proficiency test scores ie. IELTS – 6.0, TOEFL IBT – 90, DET – 125.
• Applicants must have passed the high school no earlier than one gap year prior to the academic year you are applying.

Application Process

Mentioned below is the application process for UBC Scholarships:

1. Visit the application page of the UBC for the International Scholars Program or merit-based program.
2. Select the scholarship to which you wish to apply as per your qualifications, needs, and campus.
3. To apply for a scholarship at UBC, you must have a reference letter from an academic referee. The application deadline is 15 November.
4. Fill out the application form and attach all the necessary documents along with the financial proof, and notes of the extracurricular activities.
5. Lastly, you need the submit the application form by 1 December.
