Norway post-study work visa is a visa permit that allows students who have recently completed their educational programs in the country to stay in the country for a while longer post the completion of the program to look for employment opportunities in the country. 

• The EU/EEA and Swiss nationals do not need to apply for a separate visa to stay in the country after their studies. They can stay just by registering with the police and look for employment opportunities in the country. They also do not need a separate work visa post finding a job.
• The non-EU/EEA or international students need a residence permit post the completion of their educational program. While looking for a permanent employment opportunity, you are expected to gain experience in temporary jobs.

• The EU/EEA and Swiss nationals with police registration can stay in the country for 6 months to look for an employment opportunity after the completion of their educational program.

The following are the eligibility requirements that need to be met for you to be eligible to get a post-study work visa for Norway if you are a non-EU/EEA and Swiss nationals:

• You must have completed your education or degree in Norway
• You must have a residence permit as a student in Norway
• For your education to be recognised you must have a permit for additional education
• If you are a researcher you must hold a residence permit as a skilled worker with a registered employer in Norway at your university or research institute
• Your residence permit with the researcher must be with your funds

Norway Post Study Work Visa Document Requirements

The following are the documents required for Norway post-study work visa application:

• You need to submit a valid passport with a validity of up to six months from the date of application
• You need to submit 2 passport photographs clicked following the guidelines provided by the country regarding the background and other specifications
• You must have accommodation proof of your residential arrangement in the form of a rent agreement or contract, etc
• You must submit your bank statement for the previous six months or another document to prove the availability of sufficient funds for your stay in the country. The minimum funds needed are 20,521 NOK per month or 246,246 NOK Per year
• You must provide the documents of your work experience if you have worked as a student or otherwise
• You must submit the supporting documents of your educational qualifications

Can I get PR in Norway after study?

You can get a Normay Permanent Residence Permit or PR after you have held a residence permit in the country for a minimum of 3 years. Additionally, you must meet other conditions of the PR. For example, the ability to financially support yourself, have no criminal records, etc. Generally, a PR is issued for 2 years at a time. In case, the application for a permanent residence is rejected the UDI, or police will renew the residence permit. That is if you still meet the eligibility criteria.
