    • A valid English language test equivalent to IELTS 5.5 with no component lower than 5.5 (check the official university website for more details)
  • A short portfolio that showcases your work in art, design, and/or technology.
  • A reference letter from a teacher, tutor, or counsellor.

To apply for BMus Popular Music Performance (Hons), you also need to have the following:

  • Pass a digital audition by Leeds Arts University in the year before you join the course, showing a high level of performing ability – similar to ABRSM/Rockschool/Trinity Grade 8.
  • Your Grade 5 Theory will be tested through your practical performance of an original song, instrumental composition, or arrangement of an existing song that you have uploaded to a video-sharing platform (YouTube, Vimeo or Weibo) for remote review. Based on the result, you may not need to have a formal Grade 5 Music Theory qualification.

For Postgraduate Courses

  • A UK honours degree or an equivalent degree from another country in a subject related to the course you want to study, or a postgraduate diploma /professional qualification that is equivalent to a degree.
  • At least 70% in English in the Standard XII exam that you have completed in the last 5 years.
