Duolingo Exam Rules: Do’s and Dont’s

Individuals looking forward to taking the Duolingo English Test must abide by the following set of test rules. 

1. Individuals must take the DET exam in a secluded room that is quiet and well-lit. 
2. The ears of the participant should not be covered. 
3. The face of the participant must not be obscured. Examiners should be able to see the face of the participant. 
4.    Candidates are not allowed to use any external headphones or earphones. 
5.   Using electronic gadgets such as mobile phones or tablets is prohibited. 
6. Plagiarism of content from the internet or textbooks is prohibited. 
7.  Communication with anyone during the exam is not allowed. 
8. One should avoid using external paper or writing equipment while attempting the exam. 
9.   Leaving the test window for whatever reason is not allowed. 
10. Using AI tools is prohibited. 
11. Participants must ensure that their webcam and internet are working properly before taking the exam. 
12. Participants must speak for at least 30 seconds on the given topics. You must speak with confidence during the graded speaking section.  
13. Using a fake ID or name to participate in the exam is prohibited.

Duolingo Exam Rules: Policies

While taking the Duolingo English Test, you must keep the following test policies in mind. 

1. It is critical that you only use one account to take the DET test. 
2. Participants who have registered and paid for the DET exam will have 21 days to complete the exam.
3. Participants who purchase DET test bundles are given an additional 21 days to take the exam after the submission of their exam fees.  
4. Aspirants can purchase three tests simultaneously within a month. 

Duolingo English Test Requirements

Although there are no age or academic qualification requirements for taking the DET exam, there are certain documents and equipment that one must possess in order to take the exam. 

These requirements are: 

1. Participants must have a government-issued ID, namely a passport/driver’s license/PAN card. 
2. A high-speed internet connection that is reliable. 
3. A well-lit room which is sound-proof. 
4. A laptop or a computer to take the DET exam.
