A Letter To Best Friend From Abroad

Studying abroad is one of the most beautiful and tough experiences. People enjoy, learning but miss their family and friends as well. There is a constant battle between staying and enjoying and filling up and desiring to move back to your place into the comfort of your shell. And when we cannot move back, all we do is share our experience with our people back home. We call and share experiences, sometimes video call while travelling to make them a part of it and rarely but at times when we are unable to connect to our people, we write our feelings and experiences down on a piece of paper and give it to our friends when we meet them next or post it right then. If I were a Study abroad student, this is what my letter to my best friend would be like.

The Letter

A Letter To Best Friend From Abroad

Dear Best Friend,

Even before I ask you how have you been keeping, let me first tell you that I miss you so much. My days are packed yet empty without you. The trips don’t feel as lively, the classes are just lectures and no fun, and the study sessions have become stressful as my stress ball is not with me. With you, my life is quite incomplete. I can’t even imagine how fun all of it with you were here and we both studied the same and lived in the same dorm. I think that would be my dream life.

Now tell me how are you? I hope you are good and are missing me as much as I do. I have been keeping fine too. I really am too excited to share a lot with you. There are so many things that ha[pen in the day that I wish to call and tell you but you are not reachable. That is okay because you are going to get all my burns once I come back. You know I have done a lot of new things since I moved here.

The first change that took place in my life was the insertion of so many new people from a very different culture. I made so many new friends, I know you are jealous but honestly, you really do not have to be, because my friend, nobody can be as special to me as you are. You will always be at the top of my priority list and every other friend would come second.

The classes are not the same here, and most importantly we don’t get to have the mother-like teachers we used to have in our schools. I feel like I have really grown up since I came here. Not just the classes make me feel this but all the other things as well. Can you even believe that I wake up on time for classes myself? Do you believe I wash my own clothes? Do you believe I have learnt to do the dishes or cook my own food? Yes, I have learnt to do all of it!

It was so much fun to go out and try new food every evening initially, but after certain days now I felt sick of eating out. I want to have my home-cooked food so I have started to make my own breakfast and dinner and trust me it is really fun! I recommend you to try cooking too, it’s therapeutic.

It’s been two months since I came here, back then home I thought that I would go on so many trips, but till now I really couldn’t arrange that much time and resources to plan a trip. I have been still busy getting adjusted to my schedule only. Half of my days goes into studying, and college and the other half in the rest of the chores.  So really could not find it and if it stays the same, I would never be able to make it to the trip. I really think I need to improve my speed and also the schedule to enjoy my abroad experience better. Though I visited the tourist spots of this city on the weekends. They are heavenly and I was awestruck. I really wished you were here to see them with me. However, I have clicked the pictures and will share them with you once you are back online.

You know you will love the food here because the city is full of exotic non-vegetarian options which are the main attraction of the city. The dishes that we have never heard before. It’s hard for me though to find my vegetarian meals here that is what was one reason for me to shift to self-cooking.

You will also be shocked to know that I have started making videos that will help other students move abroad and simplify their experience. And most importantly, the response that I am receiving is hilarious. There have been 10 thousand views on one of my videos in the first 24 hours of [osting itself. I hope you see them too, soon. And please do visit me quickly, I have a lot of things to show you and share with you. Miss you, buddy.

Your Best Friend.
