The Factors of 19 signify the divisibility of the number 19 with a number lower than 19 without leaving any remainder. Furthermore, these factors come into use when simplifying and solving equations in mathematics. What are the Factors of 19?

Factors of a number are those numbers that divide evenly into it without leaving any remainder. When it comes to 19, things get interesting. As 19 is a Prime number, it has a unique characteristic regarding factors.

When you look at the definition of a Prime number, it has exactly two factors which are 1 and itself. 

Hence, the Factors of 19 are 1 and 19.

What is the Sum of Factors of 19?

The Sum of factors of a number is done by adding all its factors together. When we take a look at 19, it is a Prime number. And since Prime numbers have exactly two factors which are 1 and itself (19). 

Hence, the Sum of Factors of 19 is 1 + 19 = 20.

What are the Factors of Negative 19?

Factors come in Positive and Negative pairs. Since 1 and 19 are divided into 19, their Negatives, -1 and -19, will also be Factors of -19.

Factor Pairs are two factors that multiply to give the original number. For 19, the Factor Pairs are 

  • (1, 19)
  • (-1, -19). 

Note: Every factor has a corresponding Negative Factor that balances the equation.

Use Division to find the Factors of 19

The Division method identifies the factors of a number. Moreover, here is how it works with 19:

  • Every number is divisible by 1, so 1 is always a factor.
  • Next, try dividing 19 by increasing whole numbers (2, 3, 4, etc.).
  • If the division results in a whole number with no remainder, that number is a Factor of 19.
  • Thereafter, keep dividing until you reach a point where the division does not result in a whole number (a remainder appears).

Since only 1 and 19 divide into 19 with no remainder, these are the only Positive factors of 19 using the Division method.
