How To Apply
Only those applicants can apply for this scholarship who have passed the qualifying examination for 10+2 and have also secured admission to an undergraduate course in institutions in India. Apart from this, the candidate will also have to fulfil the eligibility criteria only after this the candidate will be able to apply for the same via the official website.

- Create a password,
- Once this has been done, click on submit,
- To apply for the scholarship, the candidate will have to click on the name of the scholarship,

Who Can Apply For SPDC?
The SPDC scholarship is available only for first-year candidates. This scholarship is provided to students for some undergraduate courses both Professional and Non-Professional course subjects. These subjects include Hotel Management, Journalism, Humanities, Technology, Engineering and several others. This scholarship does not apply to Medical courses.
With the help of this scholarship, the student will get many benefits. This includes financial aid which covers tuition fees, admission fees and after-admission fees.
As mentioned above, the SPDC scholarship applies to all those candidates wishing to study undergraduate courses. The only catch is, it is available for the following Indian universities and colleges:
- Central Universities Of India which offer undergraduate courses.
- ‘A’ grade institutions accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and recognized by UGC
- National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Schools of Planning and Architecture, and Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) through the DASA Scheme
Eligibility Criteria
Before applying for the SPDC scholarship, the candidate needs to look into the eligibility criteria. By doing so, only the necessary people will apply for the same. Here are the criteria under which the candidates will be accepted.
For the SPDC scholarship, it is awarded only to these two categories:
- Children of Indian Workers in ECR countries – those who studied outside India and in India
- Children of NRIs/PIOs/OCIs
Here is all the necessary information about both these categories:
- Person of Indian Origin (PIO)/ Overseas Citizen of India (OCI)
PIO are those citizens who come from another country other than India (except Pakistan and Bangladesh) who, at any time, had an Indian passport, or whose grandparent(s) or either of their parents was Indian citizens.
To apply under this category, the candidate will have to submit proof of his/her Indian origin. This could be a valid PIO/OCI card.
- Non-Residents of India (NRI)
A person is considered an NRI if they have not been resident in India in nine out
of ten preceding years or have not been in India for more than 730 days or more.
(c) Indian workers in ECR countries
All those Indians living in ECR countries (Qatar, Thailand, Malaysia and others) are required to present a valid work permit and documentation of their two-year presence in the country of residence.
Age
The SPDC scholarship is open to all those candidates who belong to this age group of 17 to 21 years as of 31st July in the year to apply for SPDC. Only the date of birth recorded in the Secondary Education Board/University Certificate of Class 10th or Birth Certificate will be accepted.

Academic Qualifications
Candidates from all the above categories should have passed grades 11th and 12th from abroad. Candidates who are children of parents working in ECR countries and have completed education in India must have passed their 10+2 from a system of education recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
Apart from this, the candidate should have a minimum of 60 per cent marks or equivalent in their 10+2.
Parents Income
Here is the required parent’s income which one should have from the above-mentioned categories:
- Person of Indian Origin (PIO)/ Overseas Citizen of India (OCI)/ NRI: For all students’ parents belonging to this category, their monthly income should not exceed an amount equivalent to US Dollar Five Thousand (US $ 5000).
- Children of Workers in ECR countries: The total household income of parents from this category should NOT exceed an amount equivalent to US Dollar Three Thousand (US $3000).
