MGU CAT Overview
The MG University CAT is conducted annually to intake students in the Postgraduate courses, Master of Technology (M.Tech) and Master of Business Administration courses (MBA). The MGU CAT is an offline exam conducted in various test centres in Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Kozhikode and Kannur.
The MGU CAT is an umbrella examination for students seeking admission in MSc, M.A., LLM, MBA etc. The examination is conducted within the duration of two days where a different set of courses are allotted time spans between 09:00 AM-11:00 AM, 11.30 AM-01.30 PM, and 02.30 PM-04.30 PM on the 06th and 07th of May 2023.

MGU CAT Latest Updates
The Notification for MGU CAT Examination was released on 01 February 2023 which also marked the day for the start of the application procedure. The application procedure is open for a month with 01 March 2023 as the last date of application.
The exam date for the Common Aptitude Test is 06 and 07 May 2023. The candidates can prepare for the entrance examination along with their class 12th examination as most of the syllabus topics are similar to the syllabus of classes 11th and 12th.

The Examination Pattern and Marking Scheme for the MGU CAT examination are specific to the courses opted by the candidate during the application process. The candidate is evaluated without any negative marking in the written examination with 01 mark for each correct answer.

Courses syllabus for each major topic is as follows:
MSc in Microbiology or Biophysics or Biotechnology or Biochemistry
Graduate Level knowledge of Microbiology, Biophysics, Biochemistry, or Biotechnology as per the course of preference.
MSc in Chemistry
BSc. level Chemistry syllabus should be well prepared by the candidates.
MSc in Computer Science
The candidate should have knowledge of the graduation syllabus of Computer Science along with aptitude in Logical Reasoning and Numerical Ability.
MSc in Physics
The examinee should gain graduation-level knowledge of Physics along with supplementary knowledge of Mathematics.
MSc in Psychology
The candidate should practice the English language, key concepts of mathematics, and graduation-level knowledge of Psychology.
MSc in Environmental Science and Management/Disaster Management
The candidate should learn Environmental Science, and Bioscience and have Rudimentary knowledge of General Science.
MA in Politics and IR/HR or Public Policy and Governance
The candidate should be well aware of topics like contemporary politics and public policy, current affairs and international affairs, Indian Constitution, political and economic issues in India that specific to Kerala and issues related to Human rights.

Graduation level knowledge of Economics and Key concepts taught in class 12th.

MGU CAT Eligibility
- Minimum of 50% marks in the final year of Undergraduate.
- 45% aggregate marks in the case of MA Economics, MA Malayalam, MA English, MA Gandhian Studies, MA Development Studies, MA History and Anthropology and MEd.
- In MA language courses the marks attained in the particular subject of interest must be 50%.
- The Bachelor’s degree must have been attained in the subject of specialisation or its equivalent allowed by MG University.

MGU CAT Application Process
The candidates whose class 12th results are not out yet are also eligible to apply on the condition that they will produce their mark sheets at the time of admission. Only one application form is acceptable from each candidate but they are allowed to apply for four different programmes under four different institutions.
The application fee will be applicable as per the number of courses opted for by the candidate. The application fee for a general candidate opting for a single course is INR 1200. For candidates under the reserved category, the application fee is INR 600. The process of Application is as follows.
