The NIT full form is National Institutes of Technology. They are a group of higher education engineering institutions in India. There are 31 autonomous institutes that comprise NITs. Institutes are located in one each major state or union territory of India. These institutes were established decades ago and initially were referred to as Regional Engineering Colleges (RECs) and were under the control of their respective state government. However, in 2002, parliamentary legislation brought them under the direct purview of the federal government of India. Through legislation in 2007, the government of India declared these schools as institutes of National importance at par with the India Institute of Technology.

What are the Entrance Exams for NIT?
Students need to pass entrance exams for various undergraduate and postgraduate level programmes. Since 2018, the National Testing Agency (NTA) is responsible for conducting the JEE Main test. Moreover, postgraduate programmes have different specialisations and students would have to qualify for the following exams to take admission:
