Megabits per second (Mbps)
This unit of measurement refers to the rate at which data is transmitted or processed in terms of megabits. One megabit is equal to 1/8th of a megabyte, which is approximately 125,000 bytes. Therefore, when data is transferred at a speed of, let’s say, 10 Mbps, it means that 10 million bits of data are being transmitted or processed every second.
Megabytes Per Second Conversion to Megabits Per Second
To convert between megabytes per second and megabits per second, you need to consider that there are 8 bits in a byte. So, to convert from Mbps to MB/s, you divide the Mbps value by 8. Conversely, to convert from MB/s to Mbps, you multiply the MB/s value by 8.
