History, Affiliations and Rankings

WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management is a German business school, founded in 1984 by the IHK Koblenz as a scientific university for Business Administration. The name was changed in 1993 in honour of WHU grantee, businessman Otto Beisheim. The first courses took place in a former elementary school, but WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management moved to its current location in Vallendar, a small town near Koblenz, in 1988. Significant expansion was possible from 1993 thanks to a donation of 50 million German marks by Otto Beisheim, founder of Metro Cash and Carry. All the degree programs are state-recognized and accredited by the Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA). It is accredited by the Association for the Advancement of Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and the European Quality Improvement System. In 2020, the Financial Times ranked the university at #1 in Germany for all its programs, MBA, Master in Management, Executive MBA, and Master in Finance. It is at #102 in QS WUR Ranking By Subject.

Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses

The WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management has 2 campuses, Vallendar Campus and Düsseldorf Campus. The Vallendar campus is located in the UNESCO World Heritage Upper Middle Rhine Valley and Koblenz marks the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle. There are about 30 student clubs and organisations run by and for students to encourage intellectual, social and cultural engagement. The Institute offers a variety of different programs for pre-experience students. Bachelor of International Business Administration, Master of Science, Master of Management, Master of Finance, etc. Some of the main programs for post-experience students are MBA, Part-time MBA, Executive MBA etc. The school also offers some short term programs including the European Bachelor Summer Program and the European MBA Summer Program. In addition, the university offers internal and external doctoral programs. The school offers exchange programs that allow students to study a semester at one of the best business schools in Germany and also welcomes more than 120 students from more than 200 universities.The Kellogg WHU Executive MBA is offered in partnership with the Kellogg School of Management. The courses offered are Business, International Business, Finance, Entrepreneurship.

Accomplishments and Alumni

WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management is known for its MBA program, which has been highly rated by numerous publications. It maintains a global network of more than 200 partner universities and also offers numerous dual courses. The school is also known for its entrepreneurship programs and has the fourth highest number of founding unicorn alumni in the world. Its MBA program was ranked Germany's top-ranked program by the Financial Times for nine of the last ten years, including  five years in a row between 2013 and 2017. The Economist ranked it #1 worldwide in its first Master of Management ranking, published in 2017. As of 2020, for the 11th consecutive year, its Placement and Professional Services departments were ranked in the top two in the world in the Financial Times' Master of Management ranking. Some of the notable alumni are Saygin Yalcin (German Entrepreneur and academic lecturer), Thomas Buberl (German businessman and the CEO of Axa), Margret Suckale (German manager and lawyer). 

Student Diversity and Visiting Companies

The school has about 1669 students. WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management also has a well established international union with around 200 schools, 160 companies and an alumni network of more than 4100 students. The school has exchange programs that let students study a semester in one of the top business schools in Germany and also welcomes 120+ students from over 200 universities.
