History, Affiliations and Rankings
University Of Wyoming (UW) was founded in March 1886, four years before the territory was admitted as the 44th state, as a public land-grant research university in Laramie, Wyoming. When it comes to national rankings, the University of Wyoming is ranked #117 by the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), and #347 by Forbes. The University of Wyoming is ranked #228 in the National Universities category by US News and World Report in 2020. It is ranked 245th in the US Rankings 2020 by Times Higher Education. It is ranked among those with a high research output by QS WUR.
Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses
The University of Wyoming has seven colleges namely, agriculture & natural resources, arts and sciences, business, education, engineering, and applied sciences, health sciences, and law. Over 120 undergraduate, graduate, and certificate programmes are available at the university. The classroom building, which was dedicated in 1971 at a cost of $1.75 million and is designed to be a general-purpose building for the university, is the university's academic infrastructure out of the 785 acres of campus. The institution, on the other hand, features four residence halls, four housing complexes, and an American Heritage Center. Business, management, marketing, education, engineering, health professions, and related degrees, and biological & biomedical sciences are among the most popular majors at the University of Wyoming.
Accomplishments and Alumni
UW has earned appreciation in six academic areas; science and technology, arts and humanities, environment and natural resources, life sciences, and critically required professions. Some of the notable alumni are Josh Allen (NFL Quarterback for the Buffalo Bills), Rodney Anderson (former member of the Wyoming House of Representatives), Rigo Beltrán ( former Major League Baseball pitcher).
