The University of Antwerp is a public university in Belgium. Its foundation dates back to 1852. It is currently known to cater to the needs of around 20,000 students. This makes it the third largest university in Flanders. The University of Antwerp is particularly well known for its exceptionally high educational standards, its internationally competitive research and its entrepreneurial focus. The University of Antwerp is a young, dynamic and future-oriented university. It integrates the virtues of its historical roots with its desire to make a positive contribution to society. Our university develops, develops and disseminates scientific knowledge through research, teaching and scientific service in the community and performs these tasks with responsibility and scientific freedom. The educational vision is based on its culture of quality and is part of its strategic policy issues in education. The faculties have tools to develop an innovative and quality education. They are supported by the Ministry of Education. The university is affiliated with Aurora, Utrecht Network, AACSB, EFDM, NVA0, YUFE. It is at #218 in Best Global Universities, at #93 in Best Global Universities in Europe and at #5 in Best Global Universities in Belgium.

Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses

The University of Antwerp has more than eighty buildings spread over four campuses. Depending on your choice of study, you will end up in the city centre or in the green surroundings. The campuses are Stadscampus, Campus Drie Eiken, Campus Groenenborger and Campus Middelheim. The University of Antwerp does not work alone. It is closely associated with the Antwerp University Hospital (UZA), the Antwerp Management School (AMS) and other higher education institutions in Antwerp that are part of the Antwerp University Association. The University of Antwerp has 30 academic bachelor's programs, 69 master's programs, 20 master's post-master's programs and 22 postgraduate programs. In addition, there are 26 fully English-taught courses. All these programs are divided into 9 faculties. These are Business and Economics, Pharmaceutical, Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences, Medicine and Health Sciences, Arts, Design Sciences (including architecture and conservation), Social Sciences, Law, Applied Engineering Sciences, Science. Some of the programs offered by the university are Construction and Design, Chemistry, Economics and Management, Philosophy, Medicines, History Harbour and Transport, Computer Science, Arts and Culture, Health, Environment, Education, Development policy, Plants and Animals, Politics and Society, Law, Language and Communication, Technology and Technique, Safety and Security, Mathematics and Physics. 

Accomplishments and Alumni

The University of Antwerp conducts creative and innovative scientific research and strives for international excellence. The university promotes both basic research and applied research and their valorisation. The University of Antwerp is characterised by high educational standards, internationally competitive research and an entrepreneurial approach. Some of the notable alumni are Marie-Rose Morel (politician), Paul Stoffels (Medicine - cofounder of Tibotec and Virco), Dries Buytaert (author of Drupal).

The total number of students is 15,347 out of which the number of international students is 2,595. The total number of academic staff is 498, number of international staff is 53, number of undergraduate degrees awarded is 2,039, number of master's degrees awarded is 2,943, number of doctoral degrees awarded is 267. The number of research-only staff is 402, number of new undergraduate students is 3,503, number of new master's students is 2,682 and number of new doctoral students is 481.
