History, Affiliations and Rankings
California State University, Northridge is a public research university located in Los Angeles, California, United States. San Fernando Valley State College became California State University, Northridge in 1958. The University was once a component of the Los Angeles State College of Applied Arts and Sciences, but it was later split apart. The present name was approved by the California Assembly in 1972. It began as a branch campus of Los Angeles State College, then evolved into San Fernando Valley State College before becoming a university in 1972. It is one of the largest campuses of the CSU system. The Western Association of Schools and Colleges has granted it accreditation. For the State of California, CSU Northridge has been accredited by the State Board of Education. The US News and World Reports' Best University Rankings 2022 ranks California State University Northridge #1207 globally.
Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses
California State University – Northridge campus spreads across a wide area. It has a Student Recreation Centre to promote health and fitness. The university has various sports clubs and organizations on-campus. The university offers a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral and other professional courses across several disciplines. The university houses 9 colleges, namely, College of Arts, Media, and Communications, College of Business and Communications, College of Engineering and Computer Science, College of Science and Mathematics, College of Social and Behavioral Science, College of Humanities, and the College of Extended Learning. Together these 9 colleges offer around 60 bachelors degrees and 28 credentials in the field of education, as well as extended learning and other special programs. Within the numerous academic colleges, bachelor's degrees are provided in a range of subjects. Accountancy, Asian American studies, deaf studies, engineering, humanities, information systems, nursing, physics, religious studies, theatrical arts, and urban studies and planning are just a few of the bachelor's degree options. Anthropology, business administration, counselling, engineering, environmental & occupational health, kinesiology, linguistics, physical therapy, recreation, and social work are among the 45 master's level areas offered. In the field of education, there are 28 different certification programmes, including teaching credentials and speciality credentials. Distance and continuing education programs are also offered at both the bachelor’s and master’s levels.

The university offers excellent research facilities to support various research projects on biomedical and health-related subjects. Student Diversity and Visiting Companies
The university has the largest undergraduate enrollment of 34,900 students which makes it one of the largest universities in terms of enrollment size in the United States. Nearly 28,00 students and 3,300 academics and staff call the institution home. More than half of the full-time faculty members have earned a terminal degree in their discipline, and the student-to-teacher ratio is at 21:1. A significant proportion of students constitute the international student percentage. CSUN hence actively promotes student diversity at its campus. Some of the top visiting companies are - Disney, Deloitte, Kaiser Permanente to name a few.
