Reasons for choosing group travel:

  • Fosters a sense of camaraderie and shared experience. Example- Jaipur’s sudden dust storm.
  • Provides a safety net. Example- Friend falling ill in Goa.
  • Economical option. Example- Renting a spacious houseboat in Kerela.

Q. Some people choose to travel in groups, while others like to explore alone. Which one do you prefer? Use examples to support your choice.

Ans. Travelling is a deeply personal experience that exposes people to new cultures, landscapes and perspectives. While some people have a preference for independent solo travel, I enjoy doing group travel and there are several reasons for the same.

Firstly, group travel fosters a sense of camaraderie and shared experience. When you travel with others, you can share your joy of discovery, the thrill of adventure and even the occasional mishap. For instance, during one of my group trips to Jaipur, we encountered a sudden dust storm. Despite the initial inconvenience, it turned into a memorable experience as we huddled together, sharing stories and laughter, waiting for the storm to pass. This shared experience brought us together and is a memory that I still cherish.

Secondly, group travel provides a safety net. In unfamiliar environments, having others around us can provide us with a sense of security. On a trip to Goa, one of my friends fell ill. Because we were in a group, others could continue exploring the beautiful beaches, while some of us stayed back to take care of our sick friend. If she had been travelling alone, the situation could have been much more stressful. Lastly, group travel is an economical option. Costs for accommodation, transportation and even meals can be shared, making the trip more affordable. By pooling resources, travellers can access higher-quality amenities or experiences at a fraction of the cost. For instance, during our trip to Kerala, renting a spacious houseboat together proved far more affordable than individual hotel bookings, allowing us to enjoy luxury without breaking the bank.

In conclusion, while solo travel has its merits, I prefer group travel for the camaraderie, safety, and economic benefits it offers.
