Study in USA: Penn State University Standing Out in QS World Ranking 2024!
In the recently announced 2024 QS World University Rankings, Penn State was rated No. 83, up 10 spots from No. 93 last year. 

This places the university in the top 6% globally among the 1,500 schools ranked by QS. Additionally, Penn State ranked No. 8 nationwide. Also among public colleges and No. 4 among Big Ten schools out of 199 U.S. institutions.

Penn State improved from No. 26 last year to No. 24 among all American colleges.

According to Roger Brindley, vice provost at Penn State Global, the Academic Ranking of World Universities, the Times Higher Education rankings, and the QS rankings are the three most reputable worldwide university ranking systems.

In the new factors that QS included for the 2024 rankings—the worldwide research network, sustainability, and employment outcomes—Penn State performed exceptionally well. Academic reputation, citations per professor, employer reputation, faculty-student ratio, international faculty ratio, and international student ratio are additional performance measures that are a part of the QS methodology.

The University was ranked No. 36 globally among those surveyed by QS. Due to the strength of its global research network. 

Penn State’s efforts in sustainability placed it at No. 52 worldwide among those ranked by QS. Also continuing a trend of consistently high international rankings for the University in this area.

Recently, Penn State’s sustainability efforts were recognized by Times Higher Education’s Impact Rankings, where the University ranked No. 3 in the U.S. and No. 40 worldwide, and last fall the QS sustainability rankings placed Penn State No. 38 in the world. The University’s commitment to sustainability is evident in its strategic plan, as well as in such initiatives as its Sustainability Institute and the Student Sustainability Advisory Council.

The USA-Colombia WEF Nexus, recently partnered with Amazon on a project to promote water security in the Chingaza region of Colombia, the LiMC2 centre, which collaborates on research in living materials with the livMATs cluster at the University of Freiburg in Germany, and the PlantVillage project are just a few examples of Penn State’s many successful international research initiatives.
