This comprehensive survey encompasses feedback from over 3,35,000 final-year students across the UK. This cements Sheffield’s status among the UK’s elite 24 research-intensive universities.

Sheffield emerged victorious by receiving the highest positive responses across 27 pivotal questions, gauging aspects of the academic experience, mental well-being, resources, and support. 

The university stood out, claiming the top spot within the Russell Group for assessment and feedback. As well as for its exceptional Students’ Union. Furthermore, Sheffield excelled, securing a place within the top three Russell Group universities for categories. These are learning opportunities, student voice, and mental health. It also earned a spot in the top five for learning resources, academic support, organization, and management.

This year’s survey was conducted under the oversight of the Office for Students (OfS). It introduced a new question delving into freedom of expression. Sheffield impressively ranked among the top five Russell Group universities. This signifies that students feel free to express their opinions and beliefs during their academic journey.

Importance of Student Feedback

Professor Koen Lamberts, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sheffield, expressed his delight, attributing this success to the dedication of the university’s staff and the collaborative efforts of the Sheffield Students’ Union. He emphasized the importance of student feedback in shaping the future of the institution’s educational experience.

In addition to the overall achievement, the National Student Survey also shed light on the exceptional quality of individual courses at Sheffield. Courses in architecture, East Asian studies, engineering, genetics, landscape design, microbiology, nursing, Spanish, Portuguese, and zoology received some of the most positive student feedback in the entire UK.

This remarkable recognition underscores the University of Sheffield’s unwavering commitment to providing a world-class education and fostering a supportive, inclusive environment for its students.
