The University of Otago Kraft Heinz Food Science Scholarship is available to school leavers to encourage them to take up a career in Food Science. To get the scholarship, the following requirements must be met by applicants.
- They must be New Zealand citizens or holders of the New Zealand Residence Class Visa;
- They must be final-year students enrolled in a New Zealand secondary school; and
- They must intend to enrol full-time in a BSc in Food Science or a BAppSc in Consumer Food Science at the University of Otago.

Additional Requirements for Kraft Heinz Food Science Scholarship
Here are some of the requirements of the scholarship that you must meet. Those who meet these requirements can continue their scholarships. The requirements are listed below:
- For the scholarship to remain in effect in the second year of study, the bearer must get at least a B average on the core papers taken in the first year of study.
- The recipient of the scholarship must be enrolled in either a BAppSc in Consumer Food Science or a BSc in Food Science. The scholarship could be presented along with other prizes or scholarships.
- At the end of the Second year, you may be asked to reflect on your experience of working at Kraft Heinz. You must submit the same.
- If you take a gap year in between, your scholarship application will be reviewed again. The scholarship applications for gap years are reviewed on a case by case basis.
- The names, images, and personal information of selected applicants may be used by the University of Otago and Kraft Heinz for advertising and publicity.
- When asked by the University of Otago, scholarship recipients must agree to make themselves fairly available for interviews and promotional events. The aforementioned clause’s requirements are contingent upon receiving the Scholarship holder’s written consent.

The results are announced in February after the entrance examination.
