Republic Day is one of the grand National celebrations in India which is celebrated with great pomp and happiness in India. It is celebrated on 26 January every year and is a national holiday. Schools, offices, and public sector organizations organize Republic Day celebrations to encourage students to participate in various Republic Day activities. Theme for Republic Day Celebration in School

The theme for the Republic Day Celebration in School for 2024 is “India-Mother of Democracy” and “Viksit Bharat” means Developed India. 

India became a Republic on 26 January 1950. On this day the Constitution was India came into effect which was written by Dr BR Ambedkar. 

Though it is a National holiday in India, Schools in India conduct a Republic Day Celebration for students to encourage and teach them about the importance of Republic Day and the history behind it.

Top 5 Republic Day Activities for Students

Republic Day is a special day in the history of India so it should be celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm all over the country. 

The school conducts some engaging cultural activities for students. Some of the Republic Day activities are mentioned below:

1. Flag Hoisting

Republic Day marks the official adoption of the Constitution of India. On this special day, the Prime Minister of India unfurls the National Flag which is a symbol of pride for every citizen. The Republic Day celebration in school also begins with flag hoisting in the assembly ground. The flag is hoisted by the principal and the Chief guest. Students attend it with utmost pride and look forward to the other cultural activities. 

2. Republic Day Parade 

Every year, the Republic Day Parade is held at the Kartavya Path by the Indian forces followed by cultural and traditional representation of Indian art and craft. Schools also train the students for the March past on Republic Day. the parade is led by a group of drums and bands that provide rhythm to the Parade. It is one of the most patriotic activities to encourage students on Republic Day to love their country. 

3. Dance

Dance is one of the important cultural activities that take place in the Republic Day celebration in schools. Students perform patriotic songs and represent their patriotism through dance. Students also perform traditional dances to represent the diversity of the country and support different traditions and religions. Students belonging to different castes, creeds, religions, etc come together in this National festival to celebrate freedom. 

4. Republic Day Drawing Competition

Schools also conduct drawing competitions on Republic Day to engage students to explore their creativity and draw something related to the country. You can draw the Parliament or the Red Fort with the National Flag of India or you can also draw the map of India and add something quirky to show different religions that reflect the diversity of the country.

5. Quiz Competition 

Quiz competitions are also organized by schools to test the knowledge of students about their country and the Constitution of India. Generally, MCQ questions are asked in the Quiz competition with 3 or 4 options. Students have to choose the correct option out of the given options.
