Where is the Indian Air Force Day Celebration 2023?

Indian Air Force Day 2023 will take place on October 8, 2023.

Location: This year, the Indian Air Force Parade for 2023 will be held at Prayagraj Air Force Station.

What Happens During the Indian Airforce Parade?

Airforce Day is typically celebrated with a parade and a fly past with all Fighter Planes, Transport aircraft and Helicopters as well as some fascinating drills performed by the soldiers of the airforce.

The event is attended by the Chief of Air Staff and all other important members of the IAF.

Indian Airforce Motto

The motto of Indian Airforce is to “Touch the Sky with Glory” or “नभः स्पृशं दीप्तम्” (Nabh Sparsham Dwiptam). The motto of IAF was adopted from the eleventh chapter of Shrimad Bhagavad Gita. Indian Air Force is the fourth-largest functional air force in the world, and this is its biggest strength. IAF also contributes to the United Nations Peacekeeping Missions.

History 

Indian Airforce Day was established in 1932. It protects the country from air attacks and serves the nation during times of emergency. The first Indian aircraft came into being on 1 April 1933. The Indian Airforce participated in World War II and post war the airforce was renamed as Royal Indian Air Force. In 1950, when India became a Republic, the word Royal was removed from the Royal Indian Airforce and thus, the name Indian Air Force (IAF) was finalized.
