The theme of International Scout Day 2024 is “Scouts for a Better World.” The current theme highlights the importance and contribution of scouts to make the world a better place.

They take active participation in community services. Help the people around them to solve the local as well as global challenges that affect their day-to-day lives. Scouts work to promote peace and their main motive is the sustainable development of the society.

History of World Scout Day

The first World Scout Conference was held in 1920 in London, UK as the World Scout Jamboree. It was during this conference when representative scouts of almost 33 National Organizations proposed 22 February as the Founder’s Day.

Later in 1926, the World Scout Bureau officially declared 22 February as World Scout Day. Thus, this day focuses on the contribution of the founder of the scouting movement Lord Robert Baden-Powell.

A few years later, in 1965, the World Scout Committee introduced the thematic process of celebration of this day. Since then every year a theme has been set that focuses on spreading awareness about community services and recognising the contribution of scouts as heroes of the society.

Significance

This day is not just a celebration to do scout and guide activities, it offers a platform to honour the founder of the scouting movement. It fosters unity and solidarity among people and encourages the world to contribute to community services.

World Scout Day emphasize the importance of Scout Law and Promise that guides the scouts to lead their personal lives and interactions in a disciplined manner.
