Every year, the International Human Rights Day is observed on 10 December. This day was specifically chosen to honor the UN General Assembly’s adoption and proclamation of UDHR or Universal Declaration which happened on 10 December 1948. - On December 4, 1950, the UN General Assembly passed the famous resolution 423 (V). It invited all the UN members to observe Human Rights Day annually on December 10 thus marking the anniversary of the UDHR proclamation.

- It was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on December 10, 1948, in Paris, France.
