On this auspicious day, Hon’ble PM of India Narendra Modi launched the PM Vishwakarma Yojana to uplift and promote the hard work of artisans and craftsmen. Details: PM Vishwakarma Yojana 2023

The new PM Vishwakarma scheme was launched by Narendra Modi on 17 September 2023. The main aim behind this scheme is to provide recognition and support to the workers who are involved in traditional arts and crafts. 

This scheme will help the workers to improve the quality of their handmade products plus it will also enhance the reach of local products. It also aims to integrate the products with MSME (Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises) value chains. 

Here is the list of 18 trades present in the PM Vishwakarma Yojana by the Government of India:

  • Fishing Net Maker
  • Tailor (Darzi)
  • Washerman (Dhobi)
  • Garland Maker (Malakaar)
  • Barber (Nai)
  • Doll and Toy Maker (Traditional)
  • Basket/ Mat/ Broom Maker/ Coir Weaver
  • Mason (Rajmistri)
  • Cobbler (Charmkar/ Shoesmith/ Footwear Artisan)
  • Sculptor (Moortikar/Stone Carver)
  • Stone Breaker
  • Potter (Kumhaar)
  • Goldsmith (Sonar)
  • Locksmith
  • Hammer and Tool Kit Maker
  • Blacksmith (Lohar)
  • Armourer
  • Boat Maker
  • Carpenter (Suthar)

Benefits of PM Vishwakarma Yojana 

The motto of the PM Vishwakarma Scheme is to strengthen and nurture the “guru-shishya parampara”.Under this scheme, the craftsman and workers will be provided with a PM Vishwakarma Certificate and an ID card to give them recognition and identity. Besides that, they will also receive financial support of up to credit Rs 1 Lakh (first tranche) and 2 Lakh (second tranche)with a minimum interest rate of 5%. 

The Scheme will further provide Skill Upgradation, Toolkit Incentives, Incentive for Digital Transactions, and Marketing Support. All these benefits will eventually help the workers belonging to SC/ST/OBC tribes as well as women and workers belonging to economically weaker sections of the society.
