Dear Atharv,
I hope everything is good at your end. I am writing to invite you to the wedding ceremony of my dear sister, Ashima. The celebrations will be held on 23 March 2024 at M9 Club, Ludhiana and your presence would mean the world to me and my family.

As you know, we are Bengali and will be following our rich cultural traditions for the wedding of my sister. The ceremonies are spread over for multiple days, starting from the Gaye Holud when the bride and groom are blessed with turmeric paste. The function will take place at both their homes on 20th March. The following evening is the Mehendi ceremony where the beautiful henna designs are applied to the bride’s hand and feet. The ladies will gather for the celebration with music and dance.
The main wedding ceremony is the Biye, when my sister and her groom will pledge their vows and tie the marital knot. This will be on 23rd March 2024. She will dress in red and gold finery and look every bit like a Bengali bride. The groom will be welcomed with the Bengali rituals. This includes the kanyadaan when my parents give my sister the saat paak where they will walk around the holy fire 7 times.

After the wedding ceremony, there will be a grand reception dinner or bou bhaat. This is when the groom’s family is finally introduced to our friends and extended family. There will be lots of music, dance, and an authentic Bengali feast. I sincerely hope you can attend and share the joy. Your presence would mean a great deal. Please RSVP at your earliest convenience.

I look forward to celebrating the wedding with you.

Warm Regards,
Srijan

Dear Tahira,
I pray you are doing well. I am delighted to invite you to the wedding ceremony of my dearest sister, Sadaf, scheduled on 11 April 2024 at Raajkutir Swabhumi in Kolkata.
For the functions, our family follows the Islamic traditions for the blessed union. The celebrations will commence with Mayun on 8 April where the bride will be decorated with floral ornaments and paste at her home. Her friends and family will celebrate the day by singing traditional songs while she is dressed in a beautiful dress.

The following day is the mehendi ceremony where the bride’s hands will be adorned with beautiful henna designs. The ladies of the family will again enjoy music and dance at this function.
The main nikah ceremony will be held on 11 April 2024. The groom’s family will arrive and the rituals of Mehr, a traditional negotiation of gifts that the groom pledges to the bride during their marriage contract, takes place. The groom will then perform the traditional custom where the groom will first time see the bride as his wife. This will be a joyous and emotional moment for both families.

Following the nikah there will be a Valima reception on the same day of the marriage for all the friends and extended family. The grand feast with cheerful music will complete the wedding functions. I sincerely hope you will attend all the functions and share our happiness.

Please RSVP at the earliest so we may plan accordingly.

I eagerly await celebrating my sister´s union with you.
Your Friend,
Mahira
