26th January is annually celebrated as the Republic Day of India, as it was on this day our Constitution came into force. It is known as Gantantra Diwas in Hindi. This year will make the 75th Republic Day of India. This day reminds us of our golden heritage, where we must feel proud to be an Indian. It took exactly 2 years, 11 months, and 17 days to create the Constitution of India, after which India became a republic. ‘I welcome everyone present here on this auspicious occasion. Happy Republic Day to all fellow Indians. Allow me to present my speech on Republic Day. Today, the entire world will celebrate India’s 75th Republic Day, the day on which our Constitution came into force. On this day of pride and honour, the President of India addresses the Nation. The entire nation observes the celebrations taking place on Kartavya Path, New Delhi.’

‘After independence, we didn’t have our constitution, so the then Indian leaders decided to create a constitution for India, which will govern everyone equally, where there will be rule of law.’

‘Today, every law and order in our legal system is highlighted in the Constitution of India. Becoming a Republic was not an easy job, as it took almost 3 years to draft the constitution and then bring it into force. Our leaders took the initiative to establish laws, where some were borrowed from other countries, while others were discussed and amended according to the needs of the country and its people.’

‘After the President of India’s speech, ceremonies are followed by parades by the Indian Armed Forces, Cultural and Social Heritage of each state and Union Territory of India. Not only this, there are award ceremonies, where awards are given to people with exceptional achievements. Our Highest Civilian Award is the Bharat Ratna. Our former President, Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan was the first Bharat Ratna Award winner. Other awards are:

  • Padma Vibhushan
  • Padma Bhushan and
  • Padma Shree

‘From the natural backwaters of Kerala to the Cold Desert of Ladakh, every state and region represents their social and cultural heritage on Republic Day. ‘

‘On 26th January 2023, the Prime Minister of India said, ‘India will always be thankful to the brave men and women who sacrificed their lives in the service of the nation. Their exemplary service motivates a billion Indians.’

‘Days like Republic Day are of national importance, and we must remember the sacrifices of our ancestors, who dedicated their lives to the country. Their sacrifices made India not only proud but a strong and self-reliant nation. So, let us all be proud to an Indian.
