Class 12 CBSE passing marks: As per the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), students need to score at least 33% in each subject to pass the 12th-grade exams. To pass a subject with practical work in the Senior School Certificate Examination, students need to achieve 33% marks in both the theory and practical components individually. What are Class 12 CBSE Passing Marks?

Class 12 finals include board exams. These exams are divided into two parts: theoretical and practical. The theoretical part is used to test student’s knowledge, whereas the the practical section focuses on projects and VIVA assessments. To pass class 12, a student must score 33% in both theoretical and practical sections. Students must appear in at least five papers. The Class 12 grading system is based on a nine-point system: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2, D1, D2, E1 and E2. The grades in each subject should be higher than E.

Class 12 has three main streams: Science (medical or non-medical), commerce and arts. Each of these streams has a different passing criteria with minimum scores in theory and practical. Below we have mentioned the passing marks of each stream.

Science Passing Marks for Class 12 (Medical or Non-medical)

Class 12 CBSE Passing Marks Criteria

  4. If a candidate fails in any two subjects out of five, they will have to appear for compartment exams for those two subjects.

Class 12 CBSE Merit Certificate

  1. The CBSE will provide a merit certificates in each subjects to the top 0.1% of students passing those subjects.
  2. The number of merit certificates in each subject is determined by rounding the number of candidates passing the subject to the nearest multiple of a thousand.
  3. In case of a tie, all the students getting the score for merit will be given the certificate.
