WB SET Exam Eligibility

Candidates should fulfil all the eligibility criteria as given by the conducting authorities. For candidates who do not possess the required eligibility, their application form will not be accepted. The eligibility criteria include – education qualification, age limit and nationality.

Education QualificationThe candidates must have a Master’s Degree OR equivalent examination with at least 55% of marks from a university recognised by the government. Candidates who are in their final year of their Master’s are also eligible.
Age LimitThe Commission has not kept any upper age limit to appear for the WB SET Exam, but the candidate should not be below 23 years old.

Candidates looking for a job as a professor in a college or university can apply online on the official website of the West Bengal College Service Commission (WBCSC) at https://wbcsc.org.in/. Candidates can follow the steps given below to successfully apply for the exam.

  • Visit the official website of the West Bengal College Service Commission mentioned above.
  • Click on ‘Registration’ and enter your name and other details to complete the registration on the WBCSC website.
  • You will receive an email, with a login ID and password.
  • Login using that ID and password and click on ‘WB SET’.
  • A new tab will open where you can enter all your details.
  • Upload your documents, passport-size photo, and signature.
  • Pay the application fee of INR 1000 for candidates in the General category.
  • Pay the application fee online using your credit card/ debit card/net banking.
  • Submit your application form. You will receive a confirmation email.
Steps to Apply for WB SET 2023

🪪 WB SET 2023 Admit Card

The admit card is an important document, as it contains information like the exam date and venue, candidates’ names and other details. The admit card for the WB SET will be released by the West Bengal College Service Commission before the exam. To download, the admit card, follow the steps below:

  • Visit the official website of the West Bengal College Service Commission mentioned above.
  • Click on Download Admit Card.
  • Login by using your ID and password.
  • A new tab will open displaying your admit card on the screen.
  • Candidates are advised to carefully check all the details mentioned on the admit card.
  • Take a printout of it.

While appearing for the written exam, candidates have to bring their admit cards with them. Without the admit card, no candidate will be allowed to enter the examination hall.

WB SET 2023 Selection Process

Candidates aspiring to be an Assistant Professor in West Bengal by appearing in the WB SET selection process must note that the procedure requires them to undergo these processes:

  • Written examination
  • Document verification

After verifying the candidates’ documents, the West Bengal College Service Commission (WBCSC) will allot the specific college or university to the selected candidate where they will be working as an Assistant Professor.


The commission released a subject-wise cut-off list for the 24th WBSET exam on February 29 2023. Candidates who will clear the cut-off marks in the written exam will get a call for a document verification round.
