So for your information, the Karnataka PGCET Merit List for the 2023 exam will be prepared based on the results. It is expected that the result of the Karnataka Post Graduate Common Entrance Test will be published in October 2023. Appeared candidates in the exam on 24 September 2023, need to score equal to or more than the cutoff to be mentioned in the merit list of Karnataka PGCET Exam. As for the counselling, the sessions will tentatively commence in November 2023.  

The official merit list is yet to be released by the conducting body. Karnataka PGCET Merit List 2023

Recently, the Karnataka Education Authority conducted the Karnataka PGCET exam on 24 September 2023. Now, candidates are looking for the information about Karnataka PGCET Merit List. It comprises the candidate’s name, gender, application number, score, and rank.

Candidates who will get shortlisted get an invitation call for counselling sessions and a seat selection process. The later phases are important for confirming acceptance into one’s desired degree and institute in Karnataka.   • The PGCET rank list (2023) will be released once the conducting body declares the results. 
  • A separate merit list will be created for candidates based on scores in their preferred exams, i.e., PGCET or GATE
  • Each course’s merit lists are published individually. They are determined by an individual’s academic prowess in their respective exams.

Karnataka PGCET Merit Tie-Breaker

If the marks or merits of two or more applicants are the same and they clash, a tie-breaker round will be held to determine who is more qualified or eligible for the seat. The following factors are used to discern: 

  1. If the total aggregate score of an individual is higher than that of the other, he/she will be deemed eligible for the PGCET seat. 
  2. In case of the same marks/merit, candidates will be discerned based on their age. For instance, if Exhibit A is older than Exhibit B, A will be awarded with a  higher merit. 
  3. In case all of the stated factors fail to break the tie, candidates will be judged based on probability, i.e., by drawing lots. 

Karnataka PGCET Merit: Full-Time ME/ M. Tech / M. Arch Course

The merit list of candidates intending to pursue their higher education in ‘full-time’ technical disciplines such as  Mechanical Engineering, M.Tech, and M.Arch will vary for different categories of candidates. The data given below will help you understand. 

  1. GATE- Candidates who wish to apply for the Karnataka PGCET Exam can do so by undertaking the GATE Exam. The merit list for such candidates will be assessed based on their GATE scores. 
  2. PGCET- PGCET scores will be the deciding factor in determining the merit list of non-GATE candidates. 
  3. Sponsored Exam– The merit list of sponsored candidates will depend upon their employment in State Government Institutions, Public Sector, Aided Institutions, and Private Institutions.

Karnataka PGCET Merit: Part-Time ME/ M. Tech / M. Arch Course

The merit list of candidates pursuing ‘part-time’ technical disciplines such as  Mechanical Engineering, M.Tech, and M.Arch varies for different categories of candidates. The data given below will help you understand. 

  1. GATE- The Merit list is assessed based on GATE scores. 
  2. PGCET- The Merit list is evaluated based on PGCET Scores. 

Karnataka PGCET 2023 Result 

The Karnataka PGCET Result 2023 will be declared in online mode during January 2024 (tentative). Candidates will be able to go through their ranks and PGCET scores in their scorecards once the results are out. PGCET and GATE scores are considered for PGCET Exam admissions. 

  1. Individuals with higher marks are more likely to be selected for admission than those with fewer marks. 
  2. PGCET Admissions are offered based on:
  • Selected programme/course
