JEE Main Syllabus 2023
The JEE Mains consists of two papers. The paper 1 (B.E/B.TEch) syllabus contains topics from three different subjects. The subjects are physics, chemistry and mathematics. Paper 2 (B.Arch and B.Planning) includes subjects such as mathematics, aptitude test and drawing/planning test.
Some subjects that fall under the JEE core syllabus are also covered in the NCERT syllabus for grades 11th and 12th. So, a deep understanding of the concepts covered in the NCERT grade 11th and 12th textbooks is hence, essential for candidates wishing to crack JEE mains. The syllabus for Paper-1 (B.E./B.Tech.)- Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry are given below for students to refer:

At the time of preparation, candidates should have the PDF of JEE Mains syllabus. Usually, the syllabus of the Joint Entrance exam remains the same for multiple years. The NTA can make changes to the syllabus. It is thus, suggested by teachers and toppers that before you start preparing for this competitive exam, you should have knowledge of important topics. Below we have mentioned the direct link for JEE Mains Syllabus.
Mathematics Syllabus of JEE Main
Sets, Relations, and Functions | Complex Numbers |
Mathematical Reasoning | Permutations and Combinations |
Statistics | Limit, Continuity and Differentiation |
Sequence Series | Three Dimensional Geometry |
Probability | Integral Calculus |
Trigonometry | Vector Algebra |
Quadratic Equations | Binomial Theorem |
A perfect balance of simple and sophisticated topics is found in the math topics addressed. If the students grasp the fundamental ideas, math is simple to score.
Physics Syllabus of JEE Main
Magnetic Effects of Current | Kinetic Theory of Gases |
Dual Nature of Matter | Radiation |
Communication Systems | Electromagnetic Induction |
Current Electricity | Electromagnetic Waves |
Gravitation | Work and Energy |
Atoms | Nuclei |
For the majority of the candidates, physics is an interesting topic. To score good grades in this section, good preparation is needed. About 65% of the marks are distributed according to concepts like electricity, magnetism and mechanics. All of the above-mentioned topics are of utmost importance.
Chemistry Syllabus of JEE Main
Organic Chemistry Syllabus
Polymers | Oxygen and Halogens |
Principles of Practical Chemistry | Nitrogens Organic Compounds |
Hydrocarbons | Basic principle of organic chemistry |
Inorganic Chemistry Syllabus
Periodicity | Classifications of Elements |
Alkali Metals | Isolation of Metals |
Environmental Chemistry | Alkaline Earth Metals |
Physical Chemistry
Chemical Bonding | Atomic Structure |
Electrochemistry | States of Matter |
Equilibrium | Chemical Kinetics |
Redox Reactions | Surface Chemistry |
It is thus advised to the candidates to begin with physical chemistry first as it might take more time than compared with other sections. All three chapters are connected, therefore it is advised to practice as many questions as possible. The syllabus for Paper-2 (B.Arch and B.Planning) – Mathematics, Aptitude are given below for students to refer to:
Architecture Syllabus of JEE Main
Mathematics
Mathematical Reasoning | Mathematical Inductions |
Limit, Continuity and Differentiability | Trigonometry |
Statistics and Probability | Coordinate Geometry |
Binomial Theorem and its simple applications | Vector Algebra |
Integral Calculus | Matrices and Determinants |
Buildings and materials related to architecture | Visualising three-dimensional objects from two-dimensional objects. |
Mental ability | Analytical reasoning |
The drawing section in this paper covers the syllabus such as understanding the scale and the proposition of different objects, colours, textures, contrast, building forms and elements. The students might be required to create two and three-dimensional compositions using the given shapes and forms. Sketching of the scene and activities such as public space, market, recreational spaces, etc are all part of this syllabus.
