CLAT Exam Syllabus 2024 Updates

For candidates preparing for CLAT 2024, staying updated with the latest official updates is important. Since the paper pattern has changed, the total number of questions reduced to 120-150 from the previous 200. The time duration remains at 120 minutes. Thus, it shows the need for time management. CLAT UG 2024 syllabus includes English Including Comprehension (EIC) with passages testing comprehension and reasoning, Current Affairs including General Knowledge covering national and international news, Legal Reasoning on legal principles, Logical Reasoning assessing logical skills, and Quantitative Techniques focusing on applying mathematical concepts.

English Including Comprehension 

  • This section focuses on comprehension and reasoning skills with passages of 350-500 words.
  • It includes fictional or non-fictional content, testing central theme understanding, drawing inferences, summarizing, and language usage. 

Current Affairs including General Knowledge

  • Passages of around 450 words cover national and international news, historical events, and general knowledge. 
  • Questions (3-5 per passage) include topics like National and International Affairs, Schemes, Science and Technology, Summits and conferences, Sports, Awards and honours, Arts and culture, and Important Historical Events.

Legal Reasoning

  • Passage-based questions (350-500 words) cover Supreme Court judgments, recent acts, and legal principles. 
  • Topics include contract law, criminal law, tort law, constitutional law, legal general knowledge, and international treaties. 

Logical Reasoning

  • Short passages (around 300 words) assess logical reasoning abilities, verbal reasoning, argument recognition, and inference. 
  • Question types include syllogism, statement & assumption, course of action, arguments, cause & effect, and inference. 

Quantitative Techniques

  • Renamed from ‘Elementary Mathematics,’ this section focuses on applying mathematical techniques. 
  • Questions are based on passages, graphs, or representations including charts, bar graphs, line graphs, table charts, and mixed graphs.
