Badruddin Tyabji was a well-known figure in our Indian history and left a mark as a lawyer, activist, politician, and educational reformer during the British Raj. He was born on the 10th of October 1844, in Bombay. - Additionally, he travelled to England and studied at the University of London before joining the Middle Temple which is one of the four Inns of Court in London.
- In the year 1867, Tyabji became the first Indian barrister of the High Court of Bombay.

Tyabji was keenly interested in social and political reform. In 1871, he had an important part in advocating for an elective Bombay Municipal Corporation, a step towards Indian self-governance.
- Moreover, Tyabji then joined the Indian National Congress (INC).
- In 1885, INC was formed to peacefully get self-rule for India.
- Tyabji was the founding member and was also the third president of the INC from 1888 to 1890.
