History, Affiliations, and Rankings 

Virginia Commonwealth University is an open research university established in 1838. VCU has associations with prestigious bodies like ORAU, SURA, CUMU, APLU, Urban 13, and GCU. The medical department of the university opened in 1854. Through the years, the university expanded its faculties and campuses because of the growing number of students. The first classes of Arts and Humanities started with 1,200 undergraduate students and eventually, the School of Arts became the largest professional course in the United States. VCU Rankings include QS Rankings 2021, and Best Global Universities Ranking 2021 by US News and World Report.  VCU has been ranked #651-700 by the QS World University Rankings 2021. UCF QS Rankings are a result of a cumulation of six factors that include academic reputation, student-faculty ratio, employer reputation, citation per faculty, international faculty, and international student. VCU has been ranked #402 by the US News & World Report - Global Universities. 

Infrastructure, Campuses & Courses 

In addition to its excellent course options, VCU is known for its infrastructural availability. The two main campuses are the Monroe Park Campus and the MCV Campus. The Monroe campus, known as the Academic Campus of VCU has about 40 buildings that have been constructed with a blend of modern and vintage-style designs. VCU is globally renowned for its world-class infrastructural facilities. The MCV Campus has the Medical Center of the university that includes the School of Dentistry, School of Medicine, School of Pharmacy, and the School of Nursing. The library of the university is known to be amongst the largest research libraries in Virginia with a collection of about 3 million books. To cater to varied academic needs, VCU offers more than 200 courses to its students. These courses are offered at the undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels. 

Accomplishments & Alumni 

VCU is home to a number of award-winning student media programs that provide real-life, hands-on practical training while allowing students to deliver news, information and entertainment to the campus community. The university’s Anderson Gallery served as the leading contemporary art venue in the Southeast for more than 81 years, collecting 31,000 pieces from around the world. It was renamed “The Anderson”, a dedicated student exhibit space. VCU may take pride in having the first LEED Platinum building in Virginia, the first social work school in the South, the first American campus in Qatar, and the first major research university to offer a B.S. in homeland security and emergency preparedness. With over 193,724 people calling Virginia Commonwealth University as their Alma mater, the relations of the University with its alumni are at par.
