Virginia Commonwealth University is an open research university established in 1838. VCU has associations with prestigious bodies like ORAU, SURA, CUMU, APLU, Urban 13, and GCU. The medical department of the university opened in 1854. Through the years, the university expanded its faculties and campuses because of the growing number of students. The first classes of Arts and Humanities started with 1,200 undergraduate students and eventually, the School of Arts became the largest professional course in the United States. VCU Rankings include QS Rankings 2021, and Best Global Universities Ranking 2021 by US News and World Report. VCU has been ranked #651-700 by the QS World University Rankings 2021.
