In 2017, the Business and Information Technology School and the Berliner Technische Kunsthochschule merged to establish the University of Applied Sciences Europe. Global University Systems purchased the institution in 2018, taking over ownership from American business Laureate Education. The university's name was changed to the University of Europe for Applied Sciences in October 2020. In the federal state of Brandenburg, the University of Europe for Applied Sciences has state accreditation. The Ministry of Science, Research, and Culture has given governmental approval to all of the academic programmes offered by UE. UE is also accredited by the German Council of Science and Humanities (Wissenschaftsrat), FIBAA (Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation), Germany’s Central Evaluation and Accreditation Agency (ZEvA) and The Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA). UE is one of the TOP 10 achievers in the Business Studies sector according to U-Multirank and CHE.

The University of Europe for Applied Sciences, sometimes known as UE, is a private, for-profit university with campuses in Berlin, Hamburg, and Iserlohn. Its main campus and administrative centre are located in Iserlohn. There are 5 campuses under UE such as Campus Hamburg, Campus Berlin, Innovation Hub, Campus Iserlohn, and Campus Hanover.
