Established in 1742, the University of Erlangen Nuremberg was founded by Frederick Margrave of Brandenburg-Bayreuth and is situated in Bayreuth. Later the campus shifted to Erlangen. The University of Erlangen Nuremberg is a public research university. It is one of the biggest institutions in Germany. The university has academic affiliations with Bavarian State Ministry for Science, Research and Art, German Research Foundation (DFG), Excellence Universities, and the European Society for Engineering Education (SEFI). The University of Erlangen Nuremberg ranks #197 in World University Rankings 2022 by Times Higher Education and #340 in World University Rankings 2022 by QS.

Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses

The University of Erlangen Nuremberg has two campuses in Busan, South Korea and Germany. The institute’s library is the biggest one situated in Bavaria with over 5 million volumes of books. The University is divided into three cities Erlangen, Nuremberg and Furth. The university offers more than 250 programs including 78 bachelors, 88 postgraduate and 90 state examinations through its five faculties Faculty of Philosophy and Theology, Science, Law and Economics, Technical Faculty and Medical School.

The University of Erlangen Nuremberg is one of the top ranked universities in Germany. The institute has over 240 million dollars of third party research funding. The institute is one of the top research institutes and is the second-largest university in Germany. The top notable alumni are Emil Fischer, Nobel prize in chemistry, Dr. Siegfried Balleis, former mayor of the city of Erlangen and Dr. GĂĽnther Beckstein retired Bavarian Prime Minister, and Heide and Horst Feldmeier, founders of Dr. Jutta Feldmeier Foundation.

The University of Erlangen Nuremberg has over 38,000 students on-campus, out of which 6,200 are masters students with 4,000 academic staff. There are about 4,000 international students at the university. The university offers assistance for refugees who are interested in studying and promotes academic research on the topic of refugees. The visiting companies at the institute are SoftGate, Eklipse, Mercedes Bank and others.
