Established in 1742, the University of Erlangen Nuremberg was founded by Frederick Margrave of Brandenburg-Bayreuth and is situated in Bayreuth. Later the campus shifted to Erlangen. The University of Erlangen Nuremberg is a public research university. It is one of the biggest institutions in Germany. The university has academic affiliations with Bavarian State Ministry for Science, Research and Art, German Research Foundation (DFG), Excellence Universities, and the European Society for Engineering Education (SEFI).
