History, Affiliations and Rankings
University College Dublin, or UCD, was founded in 1854 and has a distinguished 160-year history. The Catholic University of Ireland was its original name. Between 1880 and 1908, it went by numerous different names. It was first known as the National University of Dublin in 1997, and then as University College Dublin in 1998, following ministerial directions. The National University of Ireland is a member institution of the public research institution. AMBA, EUA, NUI, IUA, UI, Universitas 21, and CESAER are among its affiliates. UCD was placed 117th in the world in the 2021 QS World University Rankings, first in Ireland, and 78th in the world in the 2020 QS World University Rankings for employability and reputation. UCD is ranked between 251 and 300 in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings for 2021.
Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses
The 330-acre UCD campus houses six colleges, including Arts & Humanities, Classics, History, Music, Engineering, Architecture, Chemical & Bioprocess & Civil Engineering, Information & Communication Studies, Law, and Earth Sciences. Biological and Biomedical Sciences, Social Sciences, and Psychology are among the most popular majors at UCD. The college, which is ranked among the top 1% of higher education institutions in the world, provides award-winning student facilities, 70+ active student organizations, 55 official sports clubs, completely furnished and well-equipped campus homes, and a world-class UCD library, among other things.
Accomplishments and Alumni
The institution is well-known for a long list of achievements, which includes Initiating three internal assessments of undergraduate and graduate programs (1991, 2001, 2006), which have influenced the BEd and MEd degrees at Brandon University for 25 years, collaborating with local and provincial partners and followed by a Senate external review. Following an external assessment in 1992, Lasso developed the first Faculty of Education purpose and vision statement, which functioned as the Faculty mission statement until 2011, with only minor adjustments. It has also given some of the most popular personalities known to this world today, such as Henry Champ, Canadian broadcast journalist, Tommy Douglas, father of Medicare, and The Greatest Canadian (as voted on by CBC viewers), Stanley Knowles, New Democratic PartyMember of Parliament.

University College Dublin is known across the world for being at the forefront of cutting-edge research and creative development. In addition, UCD collaborates extensively with Irish state agencies and EU funding authorities to build collaborative industrial links and can provide advice on a variety of public financing options for research cooperation. University is committed to student diversity regardless of race, gender, sex, religion, sexual orientation, nationality, or race, gender, sex, religion, or sexual orientation, and according to their most recent report, out of their 33,000 enrolments, 7,923 were international students from 144 countries.
