History, Affiliations and Rankings
Tribhuvan University is the oldest and largest university in Nepal. Established on 25 June 1959, the university was named after the late King Tribhuvan. Tribhuvan University is the largest university in Nepal and the 12th largest university in the world. University has 30 constituent campuses and over 600 affiliated colleges in Nepal. The University is ranked 800-1000 by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings in 2021. It is also ranked among the 251-300 best universities in Asia. The university is also ranked at 6676 in the world and 2nd in the country as per the 4icu Organization of University Ranking.
Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses
Tribhuvan University has a large landscape that offers 1000 undergraduate and 500 postgraduate programs across a wide range of disciplines. There are huge lecture halls equipped with audio-visuals for each subject with sufficient seating capacity. There are well-equipped laboratories. The hostel area has sufficient beds to accommodate all the students admitted to the university. There is also a vast space for sports and cultural activities.

Academicians have been engaged in teaching and research activities for a long time. Tribhuvan University has established relations with more than 170 universities and educational institutions across the world. The university aims to increase cooperation in future. Sushma Shakya, an award-winning visual artist and Sharada Sharma, a writer are notable alumni of Tribhuvan University.

Tribhuvan University has a diverse campus with students coming from all over the world. The majority of the students are from neighboring countries like India, Bhutan, Bangladesh, China, Myanmar etc. The placement cell of the university conducts campus placement of its students in various companies all over the world.
