Syracuse University was founded in 1870 and is one of the oldest and profound private research universities in the United States. The university has its affiliations with the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities, Universities Research Association, International Association of Methodist-related schools, and more. According to the QS World University Rankings 2022, the university is ranked #651 - 700 and as per THE World University Rankings, the university is ranked #351 - 400.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses 

The university is divided into two campuses: Main campus and South campus as well as a downtown Syracuse building. The main campus is also known as “North Campus”, where a historic district of older buildings has been designated on the National Register of Historic Places, has the majority of academic buildings and residence halls. The university also comprises 13 colleges. The university has nearly 22,850 students from 127 countries. While 15,000 are pursuing undergraduate programs and 7000 postgraduate programs. In total, the university offers more than 200 majors and over 100 minors. Syracuse University has over 30 research centers and institutes that provide courses in fields like Design, Fine Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanity, and STEM fields. In addition to these factors, the university is also known for its infrastructural facilities This university also provides international students with the option for on-campus employment opportunities. 

Accomplishments & Alumni 

Syracuse University also has an exceptional alumni network. It encourages cultural diversity by offering courses to students from across the globe. Syracuse University has over 258,000 alumni members. Some of the known names include Vishal Sikka who was the former CEO of Infosys and Joe Biden (former Vice President of the United States). In 1876, Syracuse graduated the fourth African American woman physician in the United States, and in 1962, American football player Ernie Davis became the first African American to win the Heisman Trophy for outstanding performance in college football. While pursuing her theatre major at the university, Eileen Collins – the first woman to lead a NASA space mission – obtained a degree in mathematics and physics in 1978, and actress Vanessa Williams became the first African American to be elected Miss America five years later.
