History, Affiliations, and Rankings
Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP) is a statutory board and post-secondary education institution in Singapore, overseen by the Ministry of Education. The Ngee Ann Kongsi established Ngee Ann Polytechnic in 1963 with 116 students as the Ngee Ann College, which offered studies in language, business, and technology. It is one of Singapore's first universities to use a collaborative learning strategy. The curriculum is based on the employability skills needed to face and overcome the challenges of the twenty-first century. The Ministry of Education is the university's parent agency, and the Government of Singapore has jurisdiction over it.
Infrastructure, Campuses, and Courses
The institution provides both full-time and part-time diploma programs. More than 14800 students are enrolled in full-time studies. Nine academic schools provide 39 full-time programs. The CET Academy at the polytechnic also provides part-time programs for adult learners. The CET Academy, which was founded in 1985, today teaches over 10,000 individuals each year and offers over 200 courses. Part-time courses include a two-and-a-half-year diploma in a core industry or specific business domain, a year-long diploma conversion to aid transfer into a different sector, and a year-long speciality certificate to facilitate specialized abilities in the core subject area.

Ngee Ann alumni have earned several prizes and accolades in the film industry as performers, producers, and artists in drama series. The Ministry of Health has awarded healthcare scholarships to graduates of the School of Life Sciences & Chemical Technology. Some of its notable alumni are Alan Tam – a Hong Kong singer and actor, Alaric Tay – a Singaporean actor, and Andie Chen – a Singaporean actor.
Student Diversity and Visiting Companies
Including international exposure in the learning process helps to enlarge minds. It allows pupils to embrace variety, cultivate a global attitude, and establish worldwide relationships. Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP) in particular is increasingly immersing its students in field visits to learn more about the ASEAN area as well as economic powerhouses like China. NP continued to offer students abroad internship options in 2018, allowing them to hone their domain skills and get experience in a global business. Over the last year, more than 300 students have had the opportunity to do so. A new foreign work and study program partnership with Shanghai Jiao Tong University, which began in March 2019, benefitted twenty-one students from diverse fields.
