History, Affiliations and Rankings
Bashkir State Medical University was established in 1932. It was established as a centre of Pharmaceutical and Medical Sciences in the Republic of Bashkortostan. The campus of Bashkir State Medical University started with only one faculty, which was the faculty of General Medicine, which further evolved into 5 more faculties. The University today, is indexed by the World Federation for Medical Education. The Times Higher Education has recognized the Bashkir State Medical University in the bracket #601-800 in Impact Rankings, wherein, it places #101-200 for Good Health and Wellbeing, in the bracket #301-400 for Quality Education, and Gender Equality and in the bracket #801-1000 for Partnership for the Goals.
Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses
The campus of Bashkir State Medical University is located in the city of Ufa in the Republic of Bashkortostan, Russia. The University has a United Centre for Simulation-Based Training, equipped with state-of-the-art simulators for the students. The University also has a large Science centre where basic and applied research is carried out. The University offers a plethora of courses in medical fields for advanced Sciences. The University has a total of 5 faculties namely, General Medicine, Dentistry, Paediatrics, Pharmacy, and Preventive Medicine. Today, Bashkir State Medical University has a number of faculties including Faculty of General Medicine (MBBS), Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Paediatrics, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Sports Medicine, Faculty of Postgraduate Studies, Faculty of Adaptive Physical Education Culture, Faculty of Clinical Psychology, Faculty for Foreign Students, Higher Education Nursing School and Faculty of Pre-University Education.
Accomplishments and Alumni
Bashkir State Medical University is known for being one of the largest centres of medical research. The University is also known for training over 700 volunteers for the Winter Olympics and Paralympics. It was home to several notable people, including Mustai Karim – Bashkir Soviet Poet, Writer and Playwright, Maxim Tchoudov – Russian bi-athlete, Ramazanov Gilemdar Zigandarovich – Bashkir Soviet poet, literary critic and translator, Alexander Kazhdan – Soviet-American Byzantinist and more.
